GRADUATION WEEK (A DAY WITH THE STARS)

As convocation day approaches, the intensity of the graduation week is increasing. On the third day of the week, the university hosted a number of distinguished speakers, including Fela Durotoye, CEO of the Leadership Gemstone Group; Abiodun Atobatele, CEO of ATB; Dr. Abiodun Muritala, Lagos State Accountant General; and Taiwo Oyedele, associate professor at Babcock Business School.

The Stars had lots of experience to give, various life-changing experiences, and thought-provoking speeches as they did ignite the graduating class towards excellence.

“Becoming something begins now, the moment you set your mind to it” Those were the words of the President Vice-Chancellor. Professor Ademola Tayo continually urged the graduating class to make good use of the program and make an impact, the essence of the program is to trigger something in them and try to engage the speakers.

The founder of the Gemstone Group, a graduate of OAU stated that he didn’t allow his first degree to hinder his success story as he continued to strive harder. Building good rapport with people that you meet, and leaving memories in the life of people will always take one far.

Professor Taiwo Oyedele who has given over 300 speeches in the last 3 years, advised that being a person of value will take one far in life, know your priorities and give your all to them.

The speakers' words of wisdom will no doubt stay with the graduating class as they embark on their next chapter. Convocation Day is a time to celebrate their accomplishments, but it is also a time to look ahead to the future. With the inspiration of the speakers, the graduating class is well-equipped to achieve great things.
