Admission Requirements

This is to inform the applicants/candidates who chose Babcock University as first choice in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) that they can now apply for the Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination by visiting: https://applications2.babcock.edu.ng

 

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualification for the First Degree Programs: 5 credits at the GCE/SSCE/NECO Examinations or their equivalent (at not more than 2 sittings); one sitting only for Medicine.  Candidates below 15 years of age are advised not to apply.

CANDIDATES AWAITING 2023 WAEC/NECO/SSCE RESULTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRESENT ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS BEFORE MATRICULATION.
All candidates who APPLY to Babcock University are REQUIRED to sit for the current JAMB examination (for 100 Level) or apply for JAMB Direct Entry admissions (for Direct Entry).  Candidates applying for Transfer Admissions need to present JAMB Admission letter, Transcript and Attestation Letter from the previous University.

Note:

  • Admission into Babcock University undergraduate programmes is only through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and JAMB Direct Entry (DE).
  • Only UTME and DE Applicants/candidates who selected Babcock University as the first choice are eligible for the Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
  • However, Applicants/Candidates who did not select Babcock University as Institution of first choice can apply, BUT are required to change their institution of first choice to Babcock University at any accredited JAMB CBT Centre in order to complete the Admission process.
  • Applicants/Candidates applying for Inter-University Transfer Admissions need to present JAMB Admission Letter, Transcript, and Attestation Letter from the previous University to effect the Inter-University transfer with JAMB.
  • The application is also open to foreign applicants provided they meet the general entry and JAMB requirements.

UTME: In addition to acceptable passes in UTME, the minimum academic requirement is credit level passes in five relevant subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, including English Language and History/Government, at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry (DE): Direct Entry candidates must possess credit level passes in five relevant subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, including English Language, two of which must be at the advanced level. Holders of NCE, University/National Diploma (ND) at minimum of credit level are eligible for consideration for Direct Entry admission into 200 Level. In addition, candidates must meet the required qualifications at Ordinary Level.

Department of Languages and Literary Studies

Degree offered: B. A. (Hons) English Studies

UTME: In addition to acceptable passes in UTME, the minimum academic requirement is credit level passes in five relevant subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, including English Language and Literature in English at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry (DE): Direct Entry candidates must possess Five SSCE/ its equivalent credit passes in Arts subjects, two of which must be at the Advanced Level and should be in English Language and Literature in English


Degree offered: B. A. (Hons) French  

UTME: In addition to acceptable passes in UTME, the minimum academic requirement is credit level passes in five relevant subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, including English Language and French at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry (DE): Direct Entry candidates must possess Five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, credit pass including English and French Language two of which must be at the Advanced Level in any of the following:

N.C.E. with credit passes in French and any other Arts or Social Sciences subject

Baccalauréat/International Baccalauréat

G.C.E. Advanced Level or passes in French and any other subject in Arts or Social Sciences or its equivalents.

UTME Entry: In addition to acceptable passes in UTME, the minimum academic requirement is credit level passes in five relevant subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) /its equivalent, including English Language and CRS at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry (DE): Direct Entry candidates must possess Five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credit-passes including English Language, two of which must be at the Advanced Level.

Five SSCE credit passes, two of which must be principal subjects at the NCE Level (one of which must be in Christian Religious Knowledge)

A Three-Year Diploma in Theology/Religious Studies recognized by the University plus

Five SSCE credits passes one of which must be English language and Christian Religious Knowledge.

Candidates studying arts subjects must obtain credit level passes in those subjects.

Direct Entry: In addition to Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, requirements stipulated above, applicants should possess at least two A’Level papers in relevant subjects in any of the following:

A pass at merit level in a relevant Diploma Programme (provided the O/L requirements are satisfied).

Two (2) passes in relevant subject areas at Advanced level.

Passes in two (2) major subjects in relevant areas in the NCE.

Two (2) passes at the IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) examination or Cambridge Moderated Schools of Basic Studies Terminal Examinations or International Baccalaureate from a recognized institution.

LL.B (Hons) Law

UTME: The minimum academic requirement is credit level passes in five (5) subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent in nationally recognized examination, including English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English obtained at not more than two sittings; such a candidate must in addition have an acceptable pass in the UTME.

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Accounting

UTME Entry: The minimum academic requirement is credit passes in five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics with any other three (3) from Principles of Accounting, Commerce, Economics and any other relevant WAEC/NECO commercial subjects at not more than two sittings.

 

Direct Entry: For Direct Entry, a candidate must possess five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credit passes, two of which must be at the advanced level and one of which must be Principles of Accounting, Commerce and Economics.

ND in relevant discipline with at least upper credit grade in addition to the five credit passes as stated above

UTME: The minimum academic requirement is credit passes in five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics and any of the following subjects: Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Studies, Biology, Financial Accounting, Commerce, Business Methods and at not more than two sitting.

Direct Entry: In addition to O’Level/its equivalent requirements stipulated above, applicants should possess at least two A’Level papers in relevant subjects.

UTME: The minimum academic requirement is credit passes in five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics and any of Economics, Financial Accounting, Marketing, Commerce and Business Methods at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry: In addition to Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent requirements stipulated above, applicants should possess at least two A’Level papers in relevant subjects.

ND in relevant discipline with at least upper credit grade in addition to the five credit passes as stated above

UTME Entry: The minimum academic requirement is credit passes in five Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, and one commercial subject (i.e. Economics/Commerce/Marketing/FinancialAccounting/Business Management)

Direct Entry: In addition to Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, requirements stipulated above, applicants should possess at least two A’Level papers in relevant subjects.

ND in relevant discipline with at least upper credit grade in addition to the five credit passes as in (a) above

Department of Economics

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Economics

UTME: In addition to UTME score, the candidate should possess a Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, with at least five credit passes, at not more than two sittings including Mathematics, English Language and Economics

Direct Entry: Candidates for Direct Entry admission shall possess five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credits. In addition, to acceptable passes in at least two social science subjects including Economics at Advanced Level, provided that such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination. For emphasis, credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Economics or any other social science subject are compulsory.

 


Department of Mass Communication

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Mass Communication

UTME: In addition to acceptable passes in UTME, candidates must obtain at credit level, passes in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent in five subjects including Mathematics, English Language and three other arts or social science subjects in not more than two sittings.

 

Direct Entry: Any one of the following qualifications is acceptable for the three-year degree programme.

A pass at merit level in a diploma programme in Mass Communication, Journalism or related disciplines (provided the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent are satisfied).

Two passes in relevant subject areas at advanced level.

Passes in two major subjects in relevant areas in the NCE.

Two passes at the IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) examination

In addition, the candidate must possess five credit level passes in five subjects at Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/ its equivalent, which must include Mathematics, English Language and three other relevant subjects.

 


Department of Political Science and Public Administration

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Political Science

UTME Mode: Candidates for admission into the four year degree programme in the Political Science in Nigeria should possess a Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent at least five credit passes obtained in not more than two sittings of which three must be Government or History plus English Language and Mathematics.

Direct Entry: Candidates for Direct Entry admission shall possess five credit passes in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, three of which shall include Government or History, English Language and Mathematics. In addition, candidates must possess credit passes in three relevant subjects at the advanced level in the General Certificate of Education or its equivalent.

 

Degree offered: B.Sc. (Hons) Political Science/International Law & Diplomacy

UTME Mode: Candidates for admission into the four year degree programme in the Political Science/ International Law & Diplomacy in Nigeria should possess a Senior Secondary Certificate Examination/ its equivalent at least five credit passes obtained in not more than two sittings of which three must be Government or History plus English Language and Mathematics.

Direct Entry: Candidates for Direct Entry admission shall possess five credit passes in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination/its equivalent, three of which shall include Government or History, English Language and Mathematics. In addition, candidates must possess credit passes in three relevant subjects at the advanced level in the General Certificate of Education or its equivalent.

 

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Public Administration

UTME Mode: In addition to UTME requirements, the prospective candidate for a 4-year degree programme is expected to have obtained credit passes in five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Government or Civic Education or History, Economics and any other social sciences or art subjects at not more than two sittings

 

Direct Entry: In addition to Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent requirements stipulated above, applicants should possess at least two A’Level papers in relevant subjects.

OND in relevant discipline with at least upper credit grade in addition to the five credit passes as stated above

UTME Mode: Candidates for admission into the four year degree programme in the Social Works in Nigeria should possess a Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, with at least five credit passes in relevant subjects including Mathematics and English Language at not more than two sitting.

Direct Entry: Candidates for Direct Entry admission shall possess five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credits passes, two of which must be at advance level and to include English and Mathematics provided that such passes are not counted at both levels of the examinations. Diploma in social work/diploma in social administration passed at upper credit level or NCE social studies passed at ‘B’ level and above could also be considered.

 

Department of Agriculture & Industrial Technology

  1. Agric. (Hons) with options in:
  1. Agric Economics  
  2. Agronomy & landscape Design Economics

UTME: In addition to UTME score, the candidate should possess five credit passes in Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry: Candidates for Direct Entry must have at least 2 credit passes in Advance level or its equivalents in Chemistry and Biology plus Five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credit pass prescribed for UTME entry mode. Diploma Holders with a minimum of Lower Credit plus Five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credit pass Level at a maximum of two sittings are eligible for consideration for admission into 200- and 300- levels, respectively.

UTME: The entry requirements shall be at least passes at Credit level at Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, in five subjects at not more than two sittings. Such subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other relevant subjects. In addition, an acceptable pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in (UTME) is required for admission into 100 Level.

Direct Entry: Candidates with at least two A level passes in relevant subjects at the GCE Advanced Level/ IJMB/ JUPEB or equivalent, may be considered for admission into 200 Level, provided they satisfy the ‘O’ level qualifications above.

UTME: The entry requirements shall be at least credit level passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/ its equivalent.

Direct Entry: Candidates with at least two A level passes GCE/IJMB/ JUPEB in two relevant subjects (Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and Physics) may be admitted into 200-level, provided they satisfy the ‘O’ Level requirement.

 

Department of Computer Science

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Computer Science

UTME: In addition to appropriate UTME score, a candidate must possess five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other relevant Science subjects in not more than two sittings.

UTME: In addition to acceptable scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), candidates to be admitted into the degree programme shall possess a credit pass in each of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English language at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent at one sitting.

UTME:There are two different pathways by which candidates can be admitted into the programme in the discipline: the Unified Tertiary Matriculation (UTME) for a four-year degree programme and the Direct Entry.

 

Four Year Degree Programme

The minimum academic requirement is credit level passes in five subjects at Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings in addition to the UTME requirements.

Direct Entry: Candidate seeking admission through this mode should in addition to the UTME requirements possess either:

credit pass in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology at the Higher School Certificates or Advanced Level of General Certificate Examination or its equivalent; OR

An acceptable First Degree in relevant Biological or Physical Sciences Discipline.

 


Department of Physiology

Admission Requirements

UTME: There are two different pathways by which candidates can be admitted into the programme in the discipline: the Unified Tertiary Matriculation (UTME) for a four-year degree programme and the Direct Entry.

Four Year Degree Programme

The minimum academic requirement is credit level passes in five subjects at Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings in addition to the UTME requirements.

Direct Entry: Candidate seeking admission through this mode should in addition to the UTME requirements possess either:

credit pass in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology at the Higher School Certificates or Advanced Level of General Certificate Examination or its equivalent; OR

An acceptable First Degree in relevant Biological or Physical Sciences Discipline.


Department of Biochemistry

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Biochemistry

Admission Requirements

UTME: The entry requirements shall be at least passes at Credit level at Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, in five subjects at not more than two sittings. Such subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition, an acceptable pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in (UTME) is required for admission into 100 Level

Direct Entry: Candidates with at least two A level passes in relevant subjects at the GCE Advanced Level/ IJMB/ JUPEB or equivalent, may be considered for admission into 200 Level, provided they satisfy the ‘O’ level qualifications above. 

 


Department of Nutrition and Dietetics

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics

UTME: Candidates must satisfy the university minimum requirements of five credits passes at SSCE/ its equivalent, which must include Mathematic, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and English Language.

 Direct Entry Mode: Candidates must satisfy the university minimum requirements of five credits passes at Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, two of which must be at the advanced level or its equivalent qualification in the following subjects: Biology, Physics, and one other Science subject into 200 level of the programme.

Department of Public Health

Degree offered: B. Sc. (Hons) Public Health

Admission Requirements

UTME: Candidates seeking admission into the programme must have at least five credit passes at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent examinations in English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, Chemistry, Physics, or any other Science subject.

Direct Entry Mode: For Direct Entry, candidates with National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science, Diploma Dental Technology, Community Health Extension Workers, and other candidates such as Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives.

Five Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credit passes in relevant subjects, two of which are at the Advanced Level.


Department of Medical Laboratory Science

Degree offered: BMLS (Hons) Medical Laboratory Science

Admission Requirements

UTME: Minimum of five credit level passes including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry at Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent in not more than two sittings in addition to other requirements by specific programme with acceptable level of pass in the UTME conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB).

Direct Entry Mode: Candidates of Allied Health Science disciplines with BSc in Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Zoology, and candidates with GCE ‘A’ level with minimum of credit passes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in addition to the above Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent credit passes, may enter the Programme at 200 Level. Holders of Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certificate of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria who have at least five Senior Secondary Certificate Examination its equivalent credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language (WAEC, NECO and NABTEB) at no more than 2 sittings are eligible for direct entry at 200 level. The medical laboratory technician already has an appropriate academic knowledge and skill in Medical Laboratory Science.

Department of Nursing Science

Degree offered: BNSc. (Hons) Nursing Science

Admission Requirements

UTME: Minimum of five credit level passes including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry at Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, in not more than two sittings in addition to other requirements by specific programme with acceptable level of pass in the UTME conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB).

Direct Entry Mode

First degree in relevant discipline, A’ Level in relevant subjects at not less than B grade and must satisfy the minimum university requirements for admission to the degree Program which includes an acceptable pass at the university Identity and Document Verification. They must in addition to the above, have minimum of credit (C) level passes at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, in five subjects, at not more than two sittings, which must include English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Registered Nurses (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM)  with credit level passes in the SSCE/ its equivalent subject as listed above may be admitted by Direct Entry into 200 level provided they satisfy other University admission requirements.

Degree offered: B. Eng. Computer Engineering

Admission Requirements

UTME: For the five-year degree programme, in addition to acceptable passes in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the minimum admission requirement is credit level passes in Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent in at least five subjects, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other acceptable science subjects at not more than two sittings.

UTME: For the five-year degree programme, in addition to acceptable passes in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the minimum admission requirement is credit level passes in Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) /its equivalent in at least five subjects, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other acceptable science subjects at not more than two sittings.

 

Degree offered: B. Sc. Architecture

UTME: Candidates who have successfully completed the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)/its equivalent, and obtained five credits (in not more than two attempts) in English Language, Mathematics, physics and any other two subjects from the following; Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building Construction and Land Surveying to the programme of choice will be eligible for admission currently through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME)

 


Degree offered: B. Sc. Estate Management.
