Heman Gabriel Zakaria was announced the winner at the 2022 Farmer of the Year award after his remarkable performance at the NiWARD's National Contest for Nigeria Women in Agricultural Research and Development.

The award comprises of the intermediate (undergraduate or graduates), advanced (postgraduates, early to late career researcher), and stakeholder (agricultural practitioner).?Apart from these, a fourth category of the winner, the people’s choice, could be from any of the three top contestants.?

Zakaria was the ultimate winner of the NiWARD Farmer of the Year Award (NFA). His hard work and dedication paid off as he emerged as the top contender amongst all other participants and was rewarded with a cash prize of N100000, a plaque, and the NFA title. His achievements prove that his commitment to excellence has been well-recognized.
