PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES DON’T DASH FIRST CLASS

In an interview with Sun Newspaper, Prof. Pius Oladeji Olanrewaju, Provost/Dean of the School of Law and Security Studies in Babcock University, noted that the quality of graduates these universities produce is reliant on several different aspects such as the faculty and learning environment.

He emphatically declared that the current educational environment in Nigeria, which is characterized by lack of funding for public universities, meager pay for lecturers, and irregular academic programs have all caused a decline in the quality of law graduates. Thanks to its strong spiritual background, Babcock University has been able to break down any obstacles that could compromise the quality of teaching. It is the God factor that instills in educators their commitment to mission-based learning and teaching.

He discredited the impression that private universities just dash out marks and first-class grades “The available data at our disposal has proved this assertion wrong. “The overall best candidate in the Bar examinations made a second-class upper division in Babcock. Even five out of the six students who made first class in 2022 made a second-class upper division in Babcock”.
