ORIENTATION FOR 100 LEVEL STUDENTS ON GEDS COURSES


Each student will be provided with an official BU email address and password. Once the user details are
given, the following steps have to be followed.


1. Each student is expected to download Microsoft teams on his/her respective device; as we
strongly advise you to use a laptop or tablet for your online classes.


2. You are to login with your full names only (No initials or nicknames is allowed).


3. Each GEDS course takes 2 hours per session and class attendance is mandatory


4. For your results, you must have 75% class attendance to have a grade in any GEDS courses
offered. Quizzes (announced or unannounced, tests, assignments and mid-semester exams all
form the continuous assessment grade of 40%, while the final examination is 60%. Both the mid-
semester and final examinations will be conducted centrally at a designated CBT venue.


5. It is important to know the full names of your lecturers, hence you need to ensure you get each
lecturer’s name at the beginning of each class.
Note that you are required to input the name of your lecturer during your CBT exams, thus the
need to be well informed.


To Join Class.


1. Each department is expected to select a course representative for each class. The course
Rep is expected to get the meeting link from the platform created by your respective
teachers.


2. The classroom is either on google meet or Microsoft teams. The course Rep should know his
or her respective lecturer’s office and contact.


GEDS CBT EXAM
Both the mid-semester and final examination will be done online in a computer-based test
mode (CBT). Once you are fully registered, you will be given a user name and password. Also
note that UMIS training will be conducted after which you will be given full access to the
examination portal.
