The essence of the Department of Agriculture and Industrial Technology within the framework of Babcock University mission statement is to provide, through a unified work-learning system

§  a balanced and harmonious development of the physical, mental, and spiritual powers

§  a well-integrated spectrum of scientific and technological education, related to the broad scope of modern industry, by emphasizing and merging theories with practical.

§  a comprehensive structure, adequate for learning and growth of young minds in preparation for future leadership;

§  a sound educational base for entrance into related professional areas and empowerment for integration of human lives into an agrarian and technological society for the uplift of mankind and for the honor of the Creator.

This philosophy requires a broad spectrum of opportunity from vocational skills through professional programs and gives rise to the “ladder concept” whereby students may be prepared to enter and contribute competitively, the job market after two, four of five years of quality tutelage.

MISSION STATEMENT

In line with the mission of Babcock University, the department of Agriculture and Industrial Technology exists to develop and provide to the country, professionals who are spiritually, physically, psychologically and socially competent and responsible by the integration of the principles of basic sciences, art of agriculture, information technology, vocational and service-oriented discipline within an Adventist framework.

Admission Requirements

A:      Generally the entry point into the first degree program in the Department of Agriculture and Industrial Technology requires five subjects, including  English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics passed at the credit Level in the S.S.S.C.E. Examination of G.C.E. ‘O’ Level o equivalent. Departmental preferences between Chemistry and Physics are specified based on the programs of study.

B:       Prospective candidates to the Department of Agriculture and Industrial Technology of Babcock must sit and pass the University entrance (written and oral) examinations.

DURATION OF PROGRAMS

A:      The normal period for an honors degree in the School of Agriculture and Industrial Technology ranges between eight (8) and ten (10) semesters and often includes Student Industrial Work Experience (Check specific program for details).

B:       The maximum period of study shall the twelve (12) and fourteen (14) registered semesters (six and seven sessions) for four-year and five-year programs respectively.
