OBJECTIVES
Graduates of Bachelor of Agriculture in Agricultural Economics and Extension are expected to be able to:
a. Take up employment in any agriculture related area
b. Establish and operate their own agribusiness as a mean of self employment.
c. Engage in production and research that will provide solutions to Nigeria’s agricultural problems.
d. Practice environment friendly activities as they utilize modern and technological principles in their agricultural career.
e. Plan and appraise new and existing Agricultural projects
f. Contribute to Policy development and evaluation nationally and internationally

MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
UME Entry Mode (100-Level)
To be eligible for admission into Bachelor of Agriculture Program of Babcock University in Agricultural Economics and Extension, a minimum of five O’ Level Credit passes at SSCE/GCE/NECO/ NABTEB is required at not more than two sittings by prospective candidates in Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, English and Economics or any other subject. A pass in physics is required. If a candidate has a pass in Agricultural Science, it must be backed up with at least a pass in the Babcock University entrance (written and oral) examinations.
DIRECT ENTRY MODE (200-LEVEL)
1. Those that have satisfied the above minimum ‘O’level conditions for admission and in addition have a minimum of two passes at the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level of its equivalent in Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology/Agricultural Science.
2. Candidate with OND/NCE with adequate ‘O’level qualifications may be admitted to year II and will run through the rest of the 5 years programme
3. Candidates with HND and adequate ‘O’level qualifications may be admitted into year IV and will run through the rest of the 5 years programme
4. Others will be treated according to its own merit.
DURATION OF PROGRAMME
The programme of courses leads to the Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric) degree and spans a period of 2, 4 or 5 academic years depending on the mode of entry.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR GRADUATION
For the 5-year degree programme, the first year (100 level) shall be a qualifying year. In order to proceed to the second year (200 level), students are expected to maintain acceptable minimum academic standard as defined by the University Administration. A minimum of 217 credits is required for graduation in the option-Agricultural Economics and Extension.
