Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking admission into the school of nursing science programme for bachelor of nursing sciences degree must satisfy the minimum university requirements for admission to the degree programme which includes an acceptable pass at the university screening test. They must in addition to the above, have a minimum of credit C level passess at the senior secondary school certificate examination (SSCE) or its equivalent in five subjects, at not more than two seating, which must include English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Registered Nurses or candidates with advance levels in Biology and Chemistry or OND/HND in Medical/ Biological Science may be admitted by direct entry into 200 level provided they satisfy other University admission requirements.

Candidates for the 4 years RN conversion/direct entry program must:

  1. be a Registered Nurse (RN) with the N&MCN. In addition, possession of at least one post-RN certification e.g Registered Midwife (RM) Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN) and Registered Psychiatric Nurse would be an advantage.
  2. possess satisfactory results at the senior secondary school certificate examination (SSCE) or its equivalent in five subjects, at not more than two seatings, which must include English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.
  3. satisfy the minimum university entry requirement which may include an acceptable pass at the university screening test.
  4. submit official transcript  of all the nursing programmes to be used for the admission.
  5. submit current license from the N&MCN at least 6-9 months expiry duration.
  6. produce letters of reference from three people which may include the current employer.
  7. have at least 3 years post-RN clinical experience
  8. sit for a placement test in basic medical sciences.
