Babcock Business School (BBS) is a division of Babcock University. Babcock Business School leverages on the strength and versatile resources available at Babcock University to achieve its goals. The goal of BBS is to Benchmark leading business schools around the world in providing cutting-edge contemporary business, academic and allied initiatives, championing solution-based products of world-class standards with high ethical value built on godliness.
Babcock Centre for Executive Development (BCED) started as Babcock Consulting Limited (BU Consult) in 2010. ADCOM of 19 December, 2013, changed Babcock Consulting to BCED, which started operation from 01 January, 2014. BCED combined academic, professional, and other consulting services with part time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Upon appointment of Prof. Ishola R. Akintoye as the Director of BCED with the aim of repositioning the Centre for greater successes and bridge the gap between ‘Town’ and ‘Gown’, he immediately put together a team to work on a ‘Strategic Document’ as a guide for the next Five (5) years. Part of this move was to dig into the archives and see the vision of the pioneers of Babcock University for naming a Building ‘Babcock Business School’ which has already created positive impression in the minds of Stakeholders as a centre of attraction on the campus. The vision and expectation the University Administration is for BCED to metamorphose to the full Babcock Business School status while the Centre amongst forms one of the arms of the proposed Babcock Business School. The acquisition of the massive property in Yaba, Lagos, is a further testimony to this vision.
The BBS operates what is called the 30/70 model through local and international collaborations, consultancies, regular and sustained stakeholders engagements, research and development with inclusiveness to bring the gown to town and vice versa. This model entails 30% academic and 70% practical/industry inputs, where 30% of the facilitators on all programmes are drawn from accomplished local and international academics from higher institutions of learning and the remaining 70% from various relevant industries both locally and internationally. Furthermore, teaching and assessment of candidates are 30% academic (theoretical) while the remaining 70% will focus on industry applications, case studies, research and developments through collaboration.
